South Coast Choral & Arts Society has chosen Rodgers & Hammerstein’s musical “The Sound of Music” for its May 2012 musical production. “The Sound of Music” has been acclaimed by audiences across the world for decades. Ever since its Broadway premiere in 1959, “The Sound of Music” by Richard Rodgers (music) and Oscar Hammerstein (libretto) has conquered the world.

The plot is based on the memoirs of Maria Augusta von Trapp, “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers”. The film of 1965, directed by Robert Wise and with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer in the leading roles, turned out to be a triumph for 20th Century Fox Studios.
